London, 3 April 2025 – Impax Asset Management (“Impax”), the specialist asset manager investing in the transition to a more sustainable economy, today announces that Bruce Jenkyn-Jones, Co-Chief Investment Officer (“Co-CIO”), Listed Investments will retire from the company on 30 June 2026.

Bruce will step down from his Co-CIO responsibilities on 1 October 2025, on which date Charles French, Co-Chief Investment Officer, Listed Investments, will become the sole Chief Investment Officer, Listed Investments. Bruce will continue to co-manage the Specialists strategy until his retirement next year.

Charles French joined Impax in 2022 as Deputy CIO and became Co-CIO in March 2024. Since joining Impax, he has helped build a resilient, flexible and scalable model for the Listed Investment team in which each of the key functions – Portfolio Management, Fundamental Research, Quantitative Research, Trading and Implementation – are led and resourced by specialists in their fields.

As CIO Charles will have oversight of Impax’s listed equities and fixed income businesses, with Ross Pamphilon continuing to lead the development of Impax’s fixed income business as Head of Fixed Income.

In November 2024, Ruth Brooker joined as Head of Equity Research, as part of the centralisation of the research function across both equities and fixed income, and the addition of several experienced analysts in recent years.

Ruth is responsible for managing Impax’s fundamental equity research process and leading the 15-person equity analyst team to deliver value-added proprietary research and idea generation to Impax’s portfolio managers. Previously Ruth was a Senior Equity Analyst at Guinness Global Investors where she covered the sustainable energy sectors. Prior to this, Ruth was a Portfolio Manager at Blackrock. She is based in London and reports to Charles French.

Ian Simm, Founder and Chief Executive, Impax, said:

“Over the past few years, we have developed the structure of our Listed Investments team under Charlie and Bruce’s joint leadership, including building out our fundamental research function. The whole Listed Investments team is now benefitting from the synergies provided by equities and fixed income colleagues working closely together in parallel team structures.

“Charlie’s eventual appointment as sole CIO is part of our carefully laid succession plans for the team. Bruce has been a huge contributor to the success of Impax for over twenty-five years. We are fortunate that clients and colleagues will all continue to benefit from his deep experience and expertise for the next 15 months.”

Impax also announces today that Luciano Lilloy has been appointed as a Co-Portfolio Manager of the Leaders strategy, joining Sid Jha and David Winborne, effective 1 October 2025. Luciano’s appointment comes ahead of the previously announced retirement of Hubert Aarts, who will be stepping down from managing the Leaders strategy on 1 October 2025 before retiring on 31 December 2025. Hubert will also step down from his portfolio management responsibilities on the Water strategy on 1 October 2025; existing Co-Portfolio Managers Harry Boyle and Justin Winter will continue to run the strategy.
